Tips from Scion tC Buyers

Atlantic Toyota
Lynn, MA
The salesman seemed disinterested when I first looked at the car, and took it for a drive. He was very polite and answered my questions, but gave the vibe that he could be somewhere else. I had read lots of "car buying tips" sites and "thinks to look out for", and the salesmen tried every trick in the book on me. I got them down to a reasonable price, but left anyway. They called me 2 weeks later to see if I was still interested. I came back in and they tried to say I had agreed to the price we left it at last time (the one I said was too high, and left). When they looked at my trade-in the moved the price up $300. I got up to leave and they brought it back down, eventually dropping to $14000.

Pros: While a little high-pressure they were polite and professional throughout. They answered all my questions without much fuss and were very pliable. I was ready to buy and had the money when I walked in (financed through credit union), which probably helped.

Cons: Tried every trick in the book to get me to pay more, including disavowing what another "sales manager" said, and going back and forth on prices.

Very easy, no haggling. Look at their website for internet prices - you get much cheaper than the window price and you don't have to argue with anyone about it either.

Pros: Friendly, no haggling, easy to work with.

Cons: They do have people who will try to push services on you, like any other dealership, but they don't push it too much.

Best buying experience we've ever had. No pressure at all. The car we traded in had a blown head gasket and had to be towed to the dealership. They worked with us on a trade in value to bring down the price on the Scion, which is basically a fixed price with little room to negotiate as I understand it.

Pros: Relaxed no pressure atmosphere

Cons: None
