The Big Mistake Most Car Shoppers Make
One of the best tips I can give car shoppers is to test drive at least 5 different vehicles before deciding which one is right for you. You will be amazed how much impact this will have on your car purchase. Another amazing thing is how few shoppers actually test drive more than 1 vehicle.
A new study conducted by DMEautomotive has found that about 16% -- roughly one in six car buyers -- do not take even one test drive before purchasing a car. And 33% of car buyers only test drive one car before making their purchase decision.
The study surveyed about 2,000 car buyers, and researchers believe the data is reflective of car buyers attempting to avoid dealerships when making a purchase.
The survey also took a look at how many dealerships car buyers visited before purchasing. about 68% said they visited only two dealerships or less before buying, and 40% went to only one dealership.
For those anxious about visiting dealers, I recommend you use TrueCar and RydeShopper from the comfort of your home to get the best deal possible on any vehicle, whether you test drove them or not.
