2012 Model Year Crash Test Results
The 2012 Volkswagen Passat and 2012 Chevrolet Sonic both earned a five-star composite score.
The composite scores are made up of frontal, rollover, and side impact tests. In the past, it was easier to get a five-star rating, but the NHTSA imposed stricter guidelines last year.
The 2012 Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai Accent, Dodge Durango and Mazda6 each earned a four-star composite score.
So far, the only other 2012 models that have earned a five-star score are the Cadillac CTS, Cadillac SRX, Saab 9-4X, Chevrolet Camaro and Toyota Camry.
The NHTSA will be testing a total of 74 vehicles for the 2012 model year, we'll keep you updated as the results come in.
3 Steps Every Car Buyer Needs to Take to Save Maximum MoneyThe key to getting the best deal is to gather price or lease bids from as many local dealers as possible. Then shop that best price around until no one can beat it. Here are the steps:
Step 1 Get Prices From My Trusted NetworkSelect the vehicle you're interested in to see if there are local dealers in my network who will provide you with their best upfront price. Step 2 Get Prices From TrueCar / CarsDirectTrueCar, and CarsDirect are my top 2 online price quote recommendations. These services show you pre-negotiated prices from dealers closest to you - and the deals are usually pretty decent. But remember, you can still negotiate further.
