Cheapest States for Car Insurance

If you thought what you pay for car insurance was based entirely on you and what you were driving, think again - where you live can also have an impact.

Forbes recently revealed the costliest and cheapest places in the United States to insure a car. For instance, Louisiana residents are apparently paying the most of all Americans for car insurance with an annual average paymet of $2,699, while second highest goes to Michigan where residents shell out average premiums of $2,250 each year.

So where's the cheapest? That would be Maine, where residents only pay an average of $934 a year in car insurance.
Below is list of the top 10 most and least expensive states for car insurance.

Tip: be sure to compare insurance rates at least once a year. It's not that hard to save a few hundred dollars a year by switching.
