States With the Highest Car Insurance Rates

Drivers in Michigan pay the highest auto insurance rates in the nation, an average of $4,490 - according to a new study from CarInsuranceQuotes.com. Other states with high car insurance rates include Louisiana, Kentucky, Mississippi and West Virginia.

At the bottom of the list, Massachusetts residents pay just $1,128 a year on average. The next-cheapest were North Carolina, Alaska, Hawaii and Iowa.
