2012 Model Year Crash Test Results
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash tested several new 2012 model-year vehicles this week.
The 2012 Volkswagen Passat and 2012 Chevrolet Sonic both earned a five-star composite score.
The composite scores are made up of frontal, rollover, and side impact tests. In the past, it was easier to get a five-star rating, but the NHTSA imposed stricter guidelines last year.
The 2012 Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai Accent, Dodge Durango and Mazda6 each earned a four-star composite score.
So far, the only other 2012 models that have earned a five-star score are the Cadillac CTS, Cadillac SRX, Saab 9-4X, Chevrolet Camaro and Toyota Camry.
The NHTSA will be testing a total of 74 vehicles for the 2012 model year, we'll keep you updated as the results come in.
