If you have a young driver in the house, you may be considering helping them purchase their own mode of transportation. Reliable safety is always paramount when it comes choosing a car, but even more so for younger drivers who do not have tons of experience behind the wheel. Everyone will feel much better knowing the car a teen is driving has excellent safety features, such as crash protection, stability control, and side-impact airbags.
For that reason, purchasing a much older car for a teen may not be the best way to go -- you might be better off buying a newer car that is still within your budget. Forbes recently released their list of what they consider the safest, yet affordable cars for young drivers available right now. At the top of the list are 2009 and later models of the Subaru Forester, followed by the Hyundai Sonata, Subaru Legacy, and Buick LaCrosse.
