Minimum Car Insurance Requirements for Each State

Each state requires a minimum amount of liability coverage when you get car insurance.

These minimum limits are presented as a series of 3 numbers: 20/40/10

The first number refers to the amount of coverage for injuries caused to one person ($20,000 in the example above). The middle number is the maximum payout if there are multiple people injured ($40,000), and the last number refers to coverage for property damage ($10,000).
